Gold Lake Lodge is nestled among alpine meadows on the crest of the Sierra's. There are more than 30 natural mountain lakes within a short distance of the Lodge. Many of these lakes have road access, but most can be reached by trail only.
Our cabins are at the trailhead of some of the nicest routes in the Lakes Basin Area. The Lakes Basin Area is one of our first national recreation areas. It encompasses over 1,000 acres of wilderness lakes, streams, mountains and trails. Gleaming cliffs and mountain meadows are your constant companions.
For accommodations we offer two types of cabins: standard and rustic. Standards have full baths, and rustic have detached, modern facilities just a few steps away. We have plenty of blankets for cool alpine mornings and daily maid service to keep everything clean.
At Gold Lake Lodge, we offer a Modified American Plan - Hearty dinner, trail lunch and breakfast are included.
Come enjoy the outdoors! There's hiking, fishing, swimming, and biking trails too.

We're 1-1/2 hrs from Lake Tahoe, 2-1/2 hrs from Bay Area, 45 min. from Sacramento, and nearby other historic gold rush towns and villages. Great bicycle riding, motorcycle riding, or just walking terrain.

Carriage House Inn is located on the Downie River in historic downtown Downieville. Nestled in a forested canyon at 2,950 feet, picturesque Downieville is a true relic of the California Gold Rush one of the prettiest of the Gold Rush towns.
Walk the narrow streets and wooden sidewalks. Browse through the unique small gift and antique shops. Shop for authentic gold nugget jewellery. Dine in one of several restaurants with riverfront views and then enjoy a stage production at the Yuba Theatre.
There's mountain biking, hiking, gold panning, white water rafting, swimming, golfing, and horseback riding nearby. In winter, enjoy cross country skiing and snowmobiling with trails just up the road.
Recently remodeled, the Carriage House Inn has comfort and country charm with river views from all 9 rooms. Hospitality breakfast of hot bread or muffins, coffee and juice provided on weekends.
